Dear Reader, Dear Members and Friends,
Finally, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Christian Social Union (CSU), and the Social Democrats (SPD) have come to a coalition agreement. With its program “A new dawn for Europe. A new dynamic for Germany. A new cohesion for our country.”, the designated German government shows a clear commitment to the European Union. This consistency and therefore reliability is prerequisite for a prospering economy.
Unfortunately, this is also what’s desperately missing in the Brexit negotiations. Putting one’s own country’s interest first is a government’s duty – to put it above everything and everybody else will backfire – not only in the U.K. Quite the opposite is required, we have to work together even closer to meet the upcoming challenges. In a globalized world, free trade benefits every country’s interest.
